Lightbulb Good Idea for gameplay

I have been playing this game for 15 months, but for the game to actually play is the hard part. I have had to resort to playing at my library because I cannot afford a video card.....Although, I am getting a new computer from part my dad has given me, this situation with the extreme graphics has caused everyone problems.

My way of solving it: have guild wars run like a common online game instead of running a guildwars program. This would only be an option for the people who do not own a good computer. So, the ppl with the supercomputers can stay as they are and the poor ppl can use the crappy version of guildwars on the internet (like common online games).

Maybe this was a bad place to post this...im sure anyone whos rly into this game would probably say no cause they got hundred dollar parts...my computer just plain sucks, the one i have rite now.... a computer that can run this would cost way too much....thats probably why runescape is more popular right now...i just rly think that we need to have an option for other computers...try not to look at it from you point of view

I played GW for a year on a computer that was actually below the minimum requirements. All graphics had to be on absolute lowest, I ran it in a small window, and I still couldn't break 5 fps in the middle of combat.

While I understand your plight, I don't think they should waste their time on this.

GW is BEAUTIFULL and fast as hell... Even dated computers can run it pretty smoothly using 56k!!!! AND plus....if you cant do it whith your computer, you can even lower the settings a LOT to make it playable!!!!

This game have been rewarded a LOT of times for its smooth yet graphic impressive engine and no changes to that are necessary.

Latter.

I feel your pain...
but you do realize how much of effort is it to do what you ask?
Try save, get a part time job, and aim for a better graphics card..
something around $50, like that of a GW game, should be good to run the game. Also remember to turn down all your details.

Listen guy, if your computer doesn't even have A Graphics card, get one.

You should adapt to the masses, the masses should not adapt to you.

It sucks. But you're cheap. instead of paying literly 50bucks for a Simple 64mb GeForce that can run this game, you want the entire dev team to spent 500 + $ and the combined man hours to go with it, so they can please to the very very few.

What do the library computers need graphics cards for? strange....
But yeah, even a cheap 64 mb card can run GW. Wont look as fancy as it could; but it'll run fine.

Dante, one thing you will come to learn in life is that you cannot just keep the same old computer forever and expect it to forever be able to play new games.

I understand that buying a new computer is hard to do and very expensive, but that's how life is. There is no getting around that. Although you can get pretty good computers to run Guild Wars well for under $1000 USD.

You are going to have to get a new computer eventually, might as well start working on that now.

I'm pretty sure that most people playing Guild Wars don't have anything close to "super computers", especially based on their recent "hour glass" comments. I just bought a new high end computer and I barely see any hour glasses except when scrolling thru my skill list yet almost every player says system speed doesn't affect hourglass appearance in combat at all; which would seem to suggest that most people playing Guild Wars do not have top of the line hardware.

I was playing Guild Wars on a 4 or 5 years old Graphics card a while back and it went surprisingly well so the devs are already stretching Guild Wars to run on as obsolete hardware as they can.

You are giving yourself false hopes if you put faith that this idea of yours in the original post would ever happen. It won't. Best thing to do is accept that reality and do something about it (ie: start saving for a new computer).

If it can make you feel any better Dante, I spent 200$ on an ATI X700. A month later it was 150$ and the latest thing was the X900.

If you are infact going to buy any Video Card, If you want unexpensive, GeForce All the way.

If you want Quality, ATI.

GeForce Screwed me over too many times, lesson learned and applied.

You have to look at it from the game makers point of view. Times goes on computer tech gets better. Why should I base my game on a computer tech thats 6 years old when I have much better stuff sitting in front of me. You have to adjust to times not have the times adjust to you. You can get a series 6 geforce for less then 100 bucks heck you can a 7 series for under 150 bucks. Point being just sit and relax invest in a newer up to date computer as you will find will be more useful as gaming tech only gets better.

Currently my car runs on gas, however I'd much rather it run on air since gas is so expensive. Please car companies of the world fix all the cars on earth so they all run on air not gas.

Does that sound reasonable Dante? Sure it can be hard if you want something but can't afford it; but nothing in life is free and if you want something you'll have to work towards it. You could get a job, pick up pop-cans, save your allowance, ask for one for your b-day or on a holiday, etc. Asking the world to turn on it's head simply because you find something difficult, costly, or 'unfair' is not the solution.

So if I need money for gas I'll have to work more or drive less; I can't simply ask car companies to do things for me because they're too great a burden on me. Just like if you want a new computer or video card you'll have to work it out on your own.
